Rock Climbing - Hutton Roof Crags - Year 7 - Day 2 - 29th June

Another smashing day out in perfect conditions with a super keen and capeable group.

Due to a super speedy departure from school we were at the crag and climbing by 11.15 which rarely happens.  Everyone climbed their hardest and pushed themselves on the harder routes.

I hope to see a few of you back at our climbing club in September.

Next activity day Monday 4th July

Kayaking - River Lune - Year 8 - Day 4 - 28th June

A great day Kayaking in perfect weather on the river Lune.  The group did exceptionally well, with a few individuals overcoming their fears and getting on with it in great style!

We paddled  against the wind, all the way down river to the army camp, working on skills and playing games on the way.

A few managed to capsize on our journey back up river which added to the experience for those who were keen to get wet.  Once we'd put all the boats on the trailer, half of the group chose to go for a quick swim and a splash.

Well done guys.

Due to strike action on the 30th your next day has been postponed till further notice.

Ghyll Scrambling - Stickle Ghyll - Year 7 - Day 1 - 27th June

A cracking 1st day out with our new super keen year 7 group.

The group moved so quickly and worked so well together we manged to get all the way to the top of the main pitch and still have time for a quick swim at the end!

A well earned rest under the bridge half way up.

A forfeit for getting water in the wellies - everyone wanted one today to cool them down!

The group finding their own way up the Ghyll

Traversing. who will fall in?

Oh miles again - good lad!!!

We found lots of 'bog violets' growing on the side of the Ghyll.  Bog violets are rare carnivorous plants that trap small bugs on their sticky leaves and then absorb them as food!

Climbing the final pitch!

A very well earned swim at the end for those who fancied it!
